It doesn't matter where you are, these cheap date ideas are tried and true. Most are either free or fairly inexpensive. And most don't require a phD in dating to plan and execute. Enjoy!
- Play croquet in a park. I think setting up a unique course such as one that requires you to hit the ball around trees and down sidewalks, etc is much more entertaining.
- Go for a scenic drive up in the mountains
- Look up old pictures and share them with each other. This often encourages story-telling. In essence, you could facebook stalk yourself or each other with the other person there.
- Go to the dollar store and buy cheesy coloring books and see who colors the best (this is a great idea to bring along with you on a picnic date).
- When it's dark, bring a laptop outside with blankets and watch a movie outside cuddled up with your date. Scary movie + dark canyon park = ?
- Go on a treasure hunt! This requires a little set-up beforehand (phD required), but clues leading to the next clue throughout a large area can make you think at least for a few hours that you're a cunning pirate in search of some booty....(no comment)
- Do a simple Slurpee (summer) or Hot Chocolate (winter) run at your local 7-11.
- A picnic in the park is one of the best cheap date ideas out there, but one that does not necessarily feel like it.
- Hiking. Note that while most people really enjoy this, others do not like it on a date at all.
- Go to a book store such as Borders or Barnes & Noble and either read books you used to love as a child, or find random books that describe your personality and share them with each other.
- During wintertime, go sledding or just make a snowman and play in the snow.
- Simply play a board or card game. Sometimes simple is the most effective.
- Buy finger paints and paint pictures.
- Go camping inside your own house or apartment. Build a tent with blankets, make tinfoil dinners together and cook them on your stove, lay out sleeping bags, and find a video of a fire crackling and play it through a TV or laptop.
